Can't Buy Me Love- The Beatles (my favorite songs)

|April 2nd, the anniversary of The Beatles' fourth No.1 single in the United Kingdom with 'Can't Buy Me Love' in 1964. On April 4th it hit Number 1 in the USA. The song holds the record for the most advanced sales orders for a single in the U.K. with over 2.1 million. Written by Paul McCartney it is one of the first Beatles' songs in which only one member of the group sang, in this case, also McCartney. It was producer George Martin's idea to start the song with the chorus, something not many songs do. And it works really well I think--you feel shot out of a cannon from the get-go when you hear this song.|
According to The Billboard book of number one hits, 'Can't Buy Me Love' was the third in the trifecta of three consecutive number-one songs by The Beatles (#1 "I Want to Hold Your Hand" was followed at number one by "She Loves You" which in turn was followed by "Can't Buy Me Love"). Those three songs spent 14 consecutive weeks at #1, the only time an artist had three number ones in a row.
Another incredible record is that this song shares the distinction with 4 other Beatles' hits as being the only time in history that one recording act held the top five spots on the charts simultaneously. When 'Can't Buy Me Love' reached Number One on April 4th, 1964, the other four songs in the top 5 were: "Twist and Shout", "She Loves You", "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "Please Please Me."
And when it was still #1 in its second week, there were...get this...14 Beatles in the top 100. Ridiculous. And within a one-year period of time, the Beatles scored 7 number one hits. No one has ever done that before or since. 'Can't Buy Me Love' was the third of those 7. It is one of the key songs in the most remarkable periods of music history for any artist.
