According to a survey in the October 2008 issue of Working Mother magazine, this quiz will showcase the top 10 of the 100 best companies. The application for the 2008 Working Mother 100 Best Companies included 500 questions that measured and scored factors such as workforce numbers, wage compensation, flexibility programs, parental leave policies, backup child care, telecommuting, family-friendly programs, time off, and company culture. An independent survey research company helped validate and tabulate the results, which then determined the winners.

Nearly 90% of the 100 winners sponsor backup child care, and 45% offer it on-site. 89% support paid sick leave for employees, and phase-back programs for new mothers (88%) and paid time off to volunteer (80%). 54% of the 100 tie managers' pay to women's advancement rates. 93% have adoption assistance, 82% have fertility treatment reimbursements, and 100% have telecommuting and flextime. These companies are working hard in this troubled economy to help hard-working mothers, and their families.

Amazing but sad too. I have a friend who is a nurse, and he gets 230 days off for paternity leave. Canada has always led the pack in social areas.

I'm not a working mother and I don't play one on TV but I enjoyed the quiz
