Billkozy's Sploofus' Over-Rated Movies Survey/Quiz

billkozyBillkozy on 10/13/2008

BillkozysSploofusOverRatedMoviesSurveyQuiz Photo Welcome to the October CQ, a game for quiz takers and makers. This month's topic is Movies, and I decided to conduct a survey amongst as many Sploofus players as I could on the topic of "Over-Rated Movies" and 162 players responded with their Top 5 votes for what they consider the most over-rated movies of all-time; the films that the critics and general public seem to love but you feel are undeserving of such praise. I tallied the results with a formula that considers the total number of votes a film received along with what order the voters placed those films in, and the results appear in this quiz. I'll count down the top 10 beginning with the 10th place vote-getter and ending with #1, the film that was voted the overall most over-rated film.

And just to give you a bit more insight into what your fellow Sploofus players and colleagues voted for, I'll reveal the films that came in 31st place through 11th:
31- Moonstruck, 30- The Shining, 29- The Dark Knight, 28- Fahrenheit 9/11, 27- Crash, 26- Matrix, 25- Little Miss Sunshine, 24- The Godfather, 23- Dances With Wolves, 22- Kill Bill Volume 1, 21- Chariots of Fire, 20- Sideways, 19- Casablanca, 18- There Will Be Blood, 17- Shakespeare In Love, 16- Moulin Rouge, 15- Rocky, 14- Unforgiven, 13- Star Wars, 12- No Country For Old Men, and #11- Gladiator.

And now on to the Dubious Achievement of the Top 10 Over-Rated Movies!
And please do rate the quiz afterward if you have a chance..in fact, over-rate it if you can!
Best wishes and Good Luck,
Bill

i loved pulp fiction, but my family, 1 of my 2 daughters hates it, absolutely hates, it sounds like her in the critique you wrote, but my son and younger daughter are with me. but i must admit i also liked titanic, go figure. i just love going to the movies and if its bad or good, li dont pick the brains out of it. Its just a movie with a good or bad storyling and acting.

Didn't see a few of these movies (Not that it would have helped my score anyway!) Found the details mentioned fascinating though. Thanks!

Interesting facts, but too much of them. I skipped to the question part at the bottom for almost every question. The poll, which, by the way, thanks for the invite to participate in, is a little long in the tooth - why not just do your own research - why take a poll? - anyway, I am sure your poll quizzes are popular, and if that is the case, I congratulate you - but the next time, can you please make the questions a little shorter?

Thanks - nice quiz.
