Reverend Jim Jones: Cult of Personality...Disorder

He started preaching as a child. He was charming, friendly, and seemingly without prejudice toward any race, creed or color. People who knew Jim Jones knew he would be something special. And special he was. Naturally, he grew up to be a minister, spreading the gospel in the best and worst of places. He could walk into the roughest neighborhood that the even cops didn't like to venture into, and he would be among friends. He later built his church into a multimillion dollar organization, received presidential notice, and appointments to city government offices. He was to some like Jesus incarnate. But then, dark clouds began to form over the squeaky clean golden boy, and he slipped into a world of drug abuse, drinking, greed, and finally megalomania. Murder and mass suicide became the climax of his now twisted religious ideals. He personally engineered a cult of death.
