Death, Film Noir Style
![]() |
During the 1940s and 50s, crime movies made in the style that we now call "Film Noir" gradually upped the ante of on-screen violence. Long before the "FRIDAY THE 13th" and "SAW" series, screenwriters were busy concocting bizarre, creative methods of torture and death for the entertainment of the masses. Directors and cinematographers milked these scenes by surrounding them with a tense and brooding atmosphere of dread and fatalism. In this quiz, I’ll give you the title of the movie and a brief description of the sequence, and you must choose the manner of death suffered by the character in question. My congrats! :)Sources include "Film Noir, An Encyclopedic Reference to the American Style", IMDB, and my own video collection.

Love the genre FIlm Noir!
That was good fun. I actually remember seeing Kiss of Death
when I was young (not in 1947) I was a big Richard Widmark
fan and went to all the reruns.
Thanks
