Conditions during the 19th century period consisted of many upheavals. In the United States every aspect of the human experience continued the democratic movement that began with the American Revolution and creation of the United States in the late 18th century. In European nations there was an uncertain pattern of reform about a repressive reaction due to uncertain economic, social and conditions. This in turn brought masses of immigrants westward across the Atlantic. Labor Day owes its origins to the unrest of workers repressions on the international scene.
