The movies "Dr. Strangelove", "Fail Safe", "WarGames" and a few others have depicted the possibility of nuclear Armageddon--crossing the brink into disaster in the former film, and a frightening near miss in the latter film. Here in this quiz, several nuclear apocalyptic near misses throughout Cold War history and afterward will be featured. If you can sleep well after taking this quiz, you've got nerves of steel. Most of this stuff could be known only to a tiny number of people with specialist interest in the subject. It cannot be considered general knowledge. The fact that I score 50% means I am a good guesser, and is nothing to do with my factual knowledge. Also, questions with such long "stems" include too much information and are not discriminatory for assessing knowledge.
Extremely difficult and technical quiz. I liked it even though I got a poor score.
