Copernicus formulated a scientifically-based heliocentric system, but I don't believe it was "mathematically predictive." Kepler did that.
Kepler determined the mathematics that predicted and proved planets moved in ellipses. Copernicus postulated planets revolved around the sun but did not mathematically predict there movement and was even perplexed by some planetary motion. Thanks
