I'm not convinced by some of the answers...
I believe that is is established that, if you're experimenting in
emptiness, the velocity of the fall does not depend on the
weight of the object...
Secondly, heat is not per se a transfer of energy but a state
of "excitement" (don't know th english term) of the
molecules...

Which falls faster - ball or string? In a vacuum, they fall equally fast (mass has nothing to do with how fast they fall). If you mean in air, then you should have said so -- even then, their shape has more to do with it than their mass.
