Even More of the Baby Boomer's Guide to 50s TV!
![]() |
Whether you accept the 1946-1964 era as the Baby Boomer timeline or, as some observers argue, the period 1942-1953, for us the 1950s was the first decade to shape our view of the world. I was born in 1947, spending my formative years in the "City That Never Sleeps". The 50s was the first full decade of television programming in the US, and the novelty was a long way from wearing off. For many families the "boob tube" would serve as a handy, if curious, choice of babysitter. It was to be enjoyed AFTER finishing homework, of course. And all of this coming before we learned of the "dangers" of watching too much TV! Television provided us with some memorable characters, and more than its share of forgettable ones. This quiz focuses on the actors and characters of those 1950s TV shows, including a glimpse at gender casting on some of the shows. With World War II in the rear view mirror, the return to normalcy and prosperity was reflected in the world of fifties TV. Homes were near perfect, mothers never worked, and the underlying happiness of the families surfaced to quickly erase those minor irritations or stumbles that took place in TV's 30 minute window. And as the decade closed, of course, we also began to return to those heroes of Western lore to remind us of our national destiny. Enjoy, and I hope you had your ginseng and gingko today!

Since this is a timed quiz, the lengthy preamble is overlooked and distracting. Wish you could condense and just ask the question. Good quiz, though
I always thought the female actress on 77 Sunset Strip was Connie Stevens. Did she plan another role?
