Scrabble turned 60 in 2008. More than 150 million sets have been sold worldwide and is a favourite of many. Originally invented by an out-of-work architect who called it Lexiko. After minor changes to the game format, it was renamed Scrabble by game manufacturer James Brunot, and copyright was granted in 1948.
