Egyptians brushed their teeth five thousand years ago using frayed sticks. The Chinese made toothbrushes from Siberian boars neck hairs attached to bone or bamboo. These were taken to Europe by travelers. Europe preferred to use horse hair cause the boar's hair was too stiff. Nylon was invented in 1937.
