Arguably the greatest baseball player of all time, Tyrus Raymond Cobb was probably the most hated baseball player of all time.
Besides holding the career record for highest lifetime batting average, Cobb was also a stellar outfielder and base runner and his accomplishments during his career are many.
Feared and despised by fellow players, by the end of his life, even his children weren't on speaking terms with him.
His on-field trials and tribulations aside, Cobb was beset by personal tragedy as well - his mother shot and killed his father, a killing ruled as accidental, although Cobb speculated that it might have been murder.
