At the end of the 19th century and during the 20th century, Paris attracted many artists from European countries such as Spain (Picasso, Dali), Holland (Van Gogh) and Italy (Modigliani). These artists mainly favoured the area of Montmartre and Montparnasse. After the WWI, American writers and artists crossed the Atlantic. Some of them spent their remaining years in France or Europe. They travelled to France not just to sample the food or the fashion. They came to find inspiration and get an extra string to their artistic bow. Writers such as Hemingway wrote many books about subjects related to their European stay. Painters such as Tanning spent a big part of their life in France. In this quiz, we will take a look at some famous American expatriates who spent a part of their artistic life in France. Enjoy!!
