I used to link to the adult education website here, but that site license has expired and because it contained the term 'adult ed,' it now is a porn site. Imagine my shock when I logged in to check my email.

That way they'll have a standing part in a cast." - Me My avatar name: Someone asked why I became a teacher, and I replied that good teachers were immortal, since they inspired some of their students to become teachers, and as long as the line continues, something that I've said or done lives on. I know that I didn't teach like my boring education professors; I taught like my 7th grade math teacher, who reminded me of a cross between Captain Kangaroo and Andy Griffith. So Mr. Reynolds lived on, through me. That alone wasn't enough to make it my screen name. One of my favorite Sean Connery roles is when he played a Spaniard in tartan in the Highlander film series. As my beard turned gray, and my scalp hair turned loose, more than one person mentioned that I favored that character. I was flattered, but it wasn't until a student at a rival school ran up to me at a tournament, went to his knees, and bowed repeatedly, yelling, "There can be only one!" By the end of the tournament, he had other students calling me "The Immortal." Then later, we took my academic team to lunch at a restaurant, and there was a caricature artist drawing pictures for tips. When he drew mine, he drew a small crown on it and wrote underneath, "There can be only one!" So when I found Sploofus, I tried "Immortal," but it was taken. For some reason, I couldn't use m_ortal or m.ortal, but m48ortal was accepted, using my birth year. That's fine, since it doesn't sound quite as egotistical as "Immortal." If I were just discovering Sploofus today, I would probably use SantaMike, as both the beard and my girth have grown. No one has mistaken me for Sir Sean in many years.
